Account Deletion

You have the right to delete your SAR Portal account at any time. This guide explains the process and what happens to your data.

Types of Deletion

If you’re a user (not the only admin):

Requirements

Process

  1. Go to Account Settings
  2. Click Delete Account
  3. Read the warnings
  4. Confirm your understanding (checkboxes)
  5. Click Delete My Account

What Happens

  1. You receive confirmation email
  2. Your account is immediately deactivated
  3. Your login credentials are removed
  4. Audit entries show “Deleted User”
  5. Your cases remain (for compliance)

  1. Remove all other users
  2. Go to Account Settings
  3. Click Delete Organization
  4. Read the warnings carefully
  5. Check both confirmation boxes:
    • “I understand all data will be deleted”
    • “I understand this cannot be undone”
  6. Click Delete Everything

What Happens

Organization deletion runs immediately and synchronously - there is no deferred purge window. As soon as you confirm:

Don't confuse deletion with cancellation
Deletion is immediate and permanent. If you only want to stop billing while keeping your data, cancel your subscription instead - that gives you a 90-day read-only + export window before access ends. See Plans & Pricing.

  1. Export your case data (per-case or full-tenant, as JSON or PDF)
  2. Download needed documents
  3. Export audit logs (CSV or PDF)

Data export is always available - even while restricted - under GDPR Article 20.

(Email hashing applies to the separate case-anonymization feature used when you close a case but keep your account - not to full organization deletion.)

Deletion vs Cancellation

Deleting your organization is not the same as canceling your subscription:

Cannot be recovered. Would need to:

  1. Register as new organization
  2. Start fresh
  3. Re-upload any needed data
